PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider – emergency oxygen in practice

If you spend time on boats or by the water, First aid oxygen is one of the most important timely first aid skills. That is why this course is especially recommended for (rental) boat operators, skippers, boat staff and everyone who is responsible for the safety of others on the water – and of course for divers. When you know When and how to administer emergency oxygen , you will be able to help in critical situations immediately, even before emergency medical services arrive.

In the course you will learn to recognize diving-related injuries and illnesses, where emergency oxygen is a key first aid measure, and you will practice administering oxygen in different situations. This is also an excellent addition for, for example, for boat staff, freedivers, lifeguards – and practically everyone who works or enjoys water.

Why is first aid oxygen an essential skill?

First aid is essential first aid, especially in situations where, for example,:

  • decompression sickness or other diving-related symptoms (e.g. unexplained malaise after diving)
  • exposure to water and difficulty breathing
  • inhalation of smoke/gas (e.g. situations that occurred on a boat or in a port)
  • other emergencies causing oxygen deficiency where supplemental oxygen can support the patient before access to care

(The course does not replace first aid – but it helps you perform the correct first aid quickly and safely.)

Who is the course suitable for?

  • For (rental) boat operators, skippers and boat staff
  • for divers and those involved in diving
  • for lifeguards, freedivers - anyone who spends a lot of time near the water

No age limit or water restrictions.
