Make every dive meaningful and awaken your inner citizen scientist. With the Dive Against Debris® course, you will learn how collecting debris underwater not only cleans up nearby sites, but also produces important data: the information collected and reported becomes part of a global database that documents the problem of marine debris.

The course combines a good feeling, concrete action and the right impact – in a guided and sensible way. At the same time, you become part of the PADI Torchbearer™ mindset: divers who protect the waters and make every dive meaningful.

What will you learn?

In the course you will learn:

  • to recognize what trash should be removed and what should not (safety and environmental considerations)
  • to implement Dive Against Debris survey : sorting, recording and reporting
  • to provide observational data PADI AWARE Foundation to a global database
  • plan a cleanup dive with a partner: roles, route, collection and safe implementation

How is the course progressing?

  • Dive Against Debris eLearning
  • We implement in a guided manner a survey dive to collect underwater debris and data on waste that has ended up in the ocean
  • After diving: weighed, sorted, recorded, recycled/disposed of and reported collected material for the PADI AWARE database

Who is it suitable for?

  • You want to make diving a tangible good, through doing it
  • You are interested in the environment and want to participate in providing accurate data
  • You want to learn good practices in cleanup diving: what to collect, how to collect, and how to report
  • Also suitable for groups and communities: a nice way to work together and leave the property in better condition
