PADI Dry Suit Diver – learn to dive with a dry suit

Diving in Finland (or other areas with colder water) is at its best with a drysuit. It makes diving warmer, more comfortable and often safer, and opens up the hobby in a completely different way all year round.

It is worth taking a drysuit course because a drysuit is not “just a suit”, but part of diving management: when you learn how to use a drysuit air control and buoyancy control properly, diving becomes more relaxed and safer.

Course idea

A drysuit contains air (unlike a wetsuit), and therefore its use requires its own skills. In the course you will learn:

  • to control air in the drysuit and combine it for buoyancy control

  • Practically, how a drysuit works in different situations (ascents, positions, trim)

  • drysuit types and basic maintenance and minor repairs (what is worth knowing and what should be done by an authorized technician)

How is the course structured?

1) PADI eLearning (2–4 hours)
You complete the theory part at your own pace – when it suits you. You study online or offline, on your computer or phone. You get support from the trainer along the way and you can ask questions whenever you have any questions.

2) Practical training with your instructor (2–3 days)

  • Pool training: putting on/taking off a drysuit, getting your weight right, confidence in basic skills, drysuit valves and generally lots of tips and tricks for getting the hang of using a drysuit.

  • 2 open water dives: You will take your skills to a real diving environment and build a comfortable and secure foundation for drysuit diving.

Who is the course suitable for?

  • For those of you who dive in Finland or other cool waters and want comfort + more diving days per year

  • For those of you who want to learn how to use a drysuit properly

  • An excellent addition also for example AOWD path if you want to package the courses together in a sensible way. Ask more if you are interested in a package solution.

Duration

  • eLearning: 2–4 hours

  • whole with the trainer: 2–3 days (schedule to be agreed)

What do you get after the course?

  • PADI Dry Suit Diver rating

  • A more confident and relaxed drysuit diving experience: better buoyancy control, better feel and less adjustment - more fun.
