PADI PRO path with Noste

Do you want to take your diving hobby to the next level – and maybe even make it your job? Nosteen's PADI PRO path is a clear path to professionalism: one step at a time, at your own pace and with the support we provide. You will walk through the path in a practical way, mentored by industry leaders and in accordance with PADI standards.

1) PADI Divemaster (DM)

Divemaster is the first professional level. It is a course of study where you learn to act as the backbone of diving operations: planning, guiding and supporting other divers, and assisting in training.

What you will learn (in practice):

  • guiding groups and leading dives
  • safety routines, risk management and dive planning
  • demonstrating skills and supporting students
  • Everyday life at a diving center: logistics, briefs, debriefs, customer experience

Who is it suitable for?
For those of you who want more responsibility, confidence and a holistic view of diving – as well as a strong foundation for the next steps.

2) PADI Assistant Instructor (AI)

Assistant Instructor is the first part of the IDC (Instructor Development Course). In the AI phase, you move from the “pro” level to teaching: you build pedagogical skills, practice teaching moments, and learn to conduct training according to the PADI framework.

What this means in practice:

  • teaching and instructional techniques (classroom, pool, open water)
  • student skills assessment and feedback
  • Fluent in understanding and using PADI materials and standards
  • increase confidence in building your own leadership style

3) OWSI path (Open Water Scuba Instructor)

The OWSI path practically means completing the entire IDC (AI + OWSI part). At this point, the whole thing becomes clear: how to teach beginner courses, how to lead exercises, how to build learning in a safe, clear and motivating way.

What you get from the OWSI share and the entire IDC:

  • a strong teaching framework and routines for different learning environments
  • to truly teach confidence – not just to fulfill requirements
  • The rise of instructor mentoring: practical tips, realism and a good work ethic

4) PADI IE – Instructor Examination
The IE is an official assessment conducted by PADI that measures your readiness to work as a PADI Dive Instructor. The role of Noste instructors and ultimately our PADI Course Director is to ensure that you go into the IE confident and prepared: we practice, hone and build your skills so that the whole thing feels manageable.

IE assesses:

  • theory and standards management (examinations)
  • teaching skills (in the classroom, in the pool and in open water)
  • diving skills and professional activities

What can you do after graduating as a trainer?

Specialty Instructor courses
When you want to teach more topics and expand your skills (and job opportunities) , the next natural step is to take specialized courses as an instructor. Typical areas include drysuit, nitrox, night diving, or wreck diving.

IDC Staff Instructor
At the IDC Staff Instructor level, you will be involved in training future trainers at IDC. This is a big step in your professional growth: you will learn how to coach others to teach.

Master Instructor
Master Instructor is the hallmark of an experienced instructor. It shows long-term commitment, high-quality training and continuous development. You can apply for the Master Instructor rating when you have issued 150 PADI certificates at different levels, assisted in at least two IDCs, trained at least 10 Emergency First Response® certificates and participated in at least three PADI seminars.

Course Director
At the Course Director level, you train new PADI instructors. This is the pinnacle of the PRO path: strong expertise, leadership, and building a training culture.
